Great stories from the captain and crew! Awesome adventure in the net, while searching for the world's largest dolphins!

It is the takeoff point for the tours and ferries along the Bay of Islands. Definitely catch a ferry to the Hole in the Rock or to see the dolphins. Paihia ("good here"; Pai=good) is a relaxing seaside town with interesting history along with Russell (1st capital of NZ) across the bay, and Waitanga Treaty Grounds. Nice place to visit.

Beautiful and breathtaking! Lots of dolphins! The staff were wonderful and very informative. Stopped at one of the Islands for a hike, then stayed in Russell for lunch.

The harbour is charming and filled with little shops, restaurants, and beautiful park areas. There are touristy places and more local types of places. There is a small grocery store for necessities.

Paihia harbour is on the middle of town. Busy place, because that's where most tours by boat start. Lovely views on Bay of Islands. If sunny; stretch out on the beach. Swim, love the sun and do not get burned.

Fantastic boat trip to the Hole in the Rock. Make sure you do the morning trip as afternoons can Be too rough for the boat to get through the hole. Watching the swimmers swimming with the Dolphins was just magic.

The harbour is right there along side the main street of Paihia. There is a largish wharf with lots of tourist boats coming and going. The Bay of Islands is very large and the harbour is really a small access point for a very beautiful area. The beaches are good for swimming. Out on the Bay one can often see... More

We went on a fishing charter so we saw a lot of the area which is very nice. The ferry to Russell is pretty quick if you want to view where things started for the Europeans in NZ. The info center at the harbour is a good place to sign up for trips and excursions.
