History alive!

It is great that the history of the Maori is getting the proper attention. Even though there are no "pure" Maori, keeping the traditions alive is important.

Quite a remarkable visit, despite the fact that it is commercialised. At the beginning, the maori warriors may appear intimidating, but within minutes, one realises they are very friendly. The games were good fun, followed by high energy haka dance. Traditional dance and music and hungi are just some of the highlights.

I was quite surprised at how I enjoyed the night at Tamaki. The hungi was absolutely delicious, but what was unexpected to me was how spectacular the show was. It was a real immersion into Maori culture. We learnt and had demonstrations about Maori weapons, musical instruments, singing & dancing. The Haka performed was breath taking and I felt so... More

The drivers and tour guide on the bus will get you engaged very quickly in this cultural experience. They were constantly telling jokes, singing songs and making us laugh. When we got to the villiage we learned a lot about the culture, although it felt a bit rushed. We got to participate in the games or strategies they used to... More

A staged but nevertheless wonderful culture experience of & by the Maori people. The people (staff) are genuine, sincere and have a good sense of humor. While It is a major tourist attraction, they do a great job getting you beyond the crowds by getting people involved in their cultural heritage. This is the major reason one visits Rotorua.

Quite costly but a great experience. A lot of effort is put into this evening to make it an enjoyable experience from the moment you get picked up to the farewell off the bus. Plenty of food and traditional entertainment. Highly recommended.

This was a fantastic night out, it was good value for money and a great opportunity to learn about the Maori people, culture and history. We was picked up by a mini bus, the driver Mark was hilarious, and he had everyone laughing and joining in. The first stop was the booking centre in the centre of town and then... More
