Each day our wildlife team run Animal Encounters which allow you to get closer than ever to some of our favourite park residents including trout, reptiles, and native birds. You can also meet kiwi, New Zealand's iconic native bird! Rainbow Springs is home to the worlds most successful kiwi hatchery, and during your visit you can join a behind the scenes tour of Kiwi Encounter for a unique chance to experience a working kiwi hatchery! There's always lots to see and do in the park! Get ready to be amazed and entertained at our new and dynamic free-flight Bird Show. Have endless fun discovering our awesome new Playscapes and Waterplay area and make sure to jump aboard the Big Splash for a thrilling ride!

We went on a short tour of the kiwi sanctuary and our guide was really informative and interesting, and the kids enjoyed it too. Luckily for us, their oldest kiwi resident was awake and we got great views of her in her home.

yes you can take your lunch. we had it near cafeteria near playground. they have got tables and chairs setup with shade. hope that helps
