I didn't go into the museum but this is a beautiful building from the exterior and worth a walk round the gardens if you have at least 15mins to spare on a nice day.

A very educational museum about a super exciting culture that differs from other cultures. A lot to see and we also saw a highly appreciated dance show with Maorier. Very nice museum! //Mats Samaras, Stockholm, Sweden

Unfortunately, due to the November 2016 earthquake, the museum was being renovated, so I did not get to see the interior of the building, but it has such a gorgeous exterior. From its apex to the detailing of its windows and color, I am sure...More

We went there last week, but unfortunately the museum is closed for repair and restoration work. Reconfirm status before you plan your day three. It is surrounded by garden area therefore one can spend some time there.

I visited this wonderful, homey museum when I was in NZ in 1999. I really enjoyed how they presented the story of how the Maoris found their way to NZ. Also, I liked seeing the set up for the former spa. I was very disappointed...More

Definitely one for the hit-list, a fabulous museum full of NZ history and a tribute to the Maori and European settlers.

The buildings themselves are magnificent, and were once the seat of government, when Rotorua was the capital, not Wellington. However, there was a fairly recent earthquake (November 2016 I think) that has left the building being fully assessed for safety, and any movement related damage....More

The building and gardens are absolutely magnificent and they have a great little café with superb service. There was an amazing exhibit about the Maori fighting in World War 1. The architecture alone is worth a visit!
