There are one and a half, two and three km loops. The terrain is both flat for most with a few slopes with Stairs for climbing. The first two loops are quite easy going. There is a continual light smell of sulphur. There are lots of different settings of collapsed craters, pools and flats. The walks are well labeled and... More

We visited the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and found it amazing. Although the smell can get overpowering at times, but this never dampened our visit there. I would truly recommend a visit whilst in Rotorua.

The hot springs and geysers combined with minerals create lakes and craters of various colors, unique of their kind. There are three tracks which... More

This was a good example of a lot of different types of thermal sights. The varying colors were quite interesting. The geyser eruption was somewhat underwhelming but we are from the US where we have the Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone Park.

Nearly didn't go due to heavy rain. So glad we went. I use a walking stick and was able to do all three walks. Takes about 1.5 hours depending on how many photos you take...which will be lots! It is incredible to see. A definitive must do!

The array of geological and chemical processes exposed with good viewing is amazing and interesting. You can take an easy walk around the thermal pools and exposed lakes to see fascinating geological science in action. Great for all ages and easy walk to navigate around, with or without a guide.
