This thermal park was a really neat stop for us. It's amazing the amount of different colors and you get to be really close to it. Lots to see. Be prepared for a strong sulfur smell, it adds to the atmosphere.

Exciting and fun. Don't miss this ecological wonderland. There are colored lakes, boiling mud pools and steam vents every where you turn.

You really get the full range of "thermal" phenomena during the walk around this beautiful natural park and there are guides on hand to explain the history and intricacies of the volcanic and thermal activities.

There are family tickets but you need transport to get there from Rotarua - either hire car or taxi. There are 3 levels of walks from short with no steps to longer with several small climbs. There are no rails to prevent... More

Wai-O-Tapu is pure geo-thermal and has different colours of slurry based on the material beneath. Te-Puia has geo-thermal as well as cultural program, museum, KIWI bird, etc. You can avoid Wai-O-Tapu if you are not very keen... More
