It is still worth a look being right nest door to the Len Lye centre but I have to say I found it rather tired and the exhibitions lacking lustre. There is an amazing collection in there some where but it wasn't on display for our visit.

We were impressed by the outside structure of this free to enter art gallery and then enjoyed a tour by one of the enthusiastic guides, watched the documentary on Len Lye, and saw some of Len Lye's kinetic sculptures. This was all very pleasant and quite interesting as we didn't have any background to any of this before we entered... More

This Gallery is exist because of the collaboration between Len Lye and the Govett-Brewster Gallery founded by Monica Brewster and maintained and operated by New Plymouth Council, well done. I loved doing a walk through here. I hadn't seen Lye's kinetic work before and it was great. The exhibitions change out often so worth taking the time to visit often.

Not really my thing but I have no doubt some will love it. We had heard alot about Len Lye, so had to have a look while in NP. Given the positive comments I had heard, I was a little disappointed. The displays were interesting but not significantly so as to hold my attention for long. If I had paid... More

Great kinetic sculptures, each time I've been to the gallery there are different pieces out on show.

Stunning concept. This must be one of the most strikingly beautiful structures in the country. The Len Lye exhibits are also a stand-out, and after spending two performances with flip and friends (the twisters), we even went back later for the movie of his life.
