I live on the boundary of Barrett Domain and I absolutely love it. You can really stretch your legs through a range of tracks and enjoy the forest surrounds and birdlife. It's dog friendly (not suitable for bikes as there are a lot of elderly...More
Our whippets love the Barrett’s Domain and it is one of their favourite places to walk and given the other dogs and owners we encounter we are not alone. There are 4-5 different routes possible so walkers seldom get bored and the lake is a...More

Barrett Domain is a calm and tranquil green space to get away from the hustle and bustle of inner city New Plymouth.
If you are the sort of person that loves the sound of birds chirping and rivers flowing than this park is for you.
Obviously popular with local dogwalkers, but rather disappointing to an outside visitor. Potentially some great bush walks but signage is old and difficult to read and tracks unkempt. Lagoon worth walking to if you are interested in water birds. Kauri planings a surprise.
