Love going to this reserve. Not too tough in terms of terrain, always quiet, dog can run off the lead without issues. There are tons of native birds here particularly fantails which we love. Sucks and swans on the lagoon too. Could do with a...More

Beautiful place to take the family and have a walk. Not the best to take the pram as the tracks are just stones - will be using the front pack next time. Would still highly recommend.

Rotokare/Barrett Domain is a mix of ecology and history, especially now that new information signs are being installed. There is a variety of walks within the domain (follow the signs) but be sure to take the main track right through to the end - that...More

I take my dog down to this park frequently as it is a tranquil environment, the Barrett Domain is perfect for de-stressing after a long day at the office. When you enter the domain, you hear the water rushing and the birds singing - if...More

Barrett Domain is a calm and tranquil green space to get away from the hustle and bustle of inner city New Plymouth. If you are the sort of person that loves the sound of birds chirping and rivers flowing than this park is for you.

Obviously popular with local dogwalkers, but rather disappointing to an outside visitor. Potentially some great bush walks but signage is old and difficult to read and tracks unkempt. Lagoon worth walking to if you are interested in water birds. Kauri planings a surprise.

This is a reasonably long walk but well worth it. You can either walk amount the trees or head to the lake with ducks. Sometimes the RDA horses are grazing along the way which the kids really enjoyed.

Who knew there was an old kauri grove in New Plymouth? This place is a special find where dogs are welcome and the kauri grove and stream make for a peaceful haven in the midst of suburbia. We'll be back to recharge and discover more,...More

Another great green space / domaine in New Plymouth. There are many scattered throughout town and Barrett Domain is no exception. Large open spaces with a walkway leading to wooded area that transports out out of town within a few steps.
