Each waterfall just keeps getting better and better, unfortunately it is not recommended to go swimming.

Bit hard to get to. Both ourselves and some other travellers we ran into had a bit of trouble finding it. Was a nice walk. Only about half an hour and made for a couple of good photos. According to the sign, you can't swim there though.

First path leads to this falls which is nice and calm. -We climbed to the top of it and the water was very clear -If you keep following the path there is another falls that you can swim in.. there are rocks to jump off of and a rope swing - lots of people there swimming! -Bring your towel -No... Good close to town waterfalls. Do the complete loop hike (20 minutes) as the lower falls are nice and in a tropical setting. Walkways could be maintained a bit better, but fine for typical fitness levels.

I love natural falls, and Kaiate is wonderful. It had rained a lot recently, so plenty of water, spectacular! Had to take off shoes and socks to cross the Bridge at one point, but not usually. Fab way to spend an hour or so...worth the drive out. Come back to Tauranga via Welcome Bay.

The Kaiate falls are always worth a visit any time of the year but an excellent spot for a picnic in summer. We have been there many times in our 26 years in Tauranga and always enjoy the trip

This was a great place to visit. The rain made it alittle slippery, but that made the falls even better. Well worth the visit!

Stunning falls. Not too far of a walk and easy enough for the family to do. Would be perfect in the summertime as the water is a bit nippy.

we (my 22 year old son and I) went here after visiting (and walking the summit trail) on Mount Maunganui. It is about 30 min from Maunganui and very easy to get to with Maps on Iphone. I love waterfalls and have seen a good #; i didn't know how this would go over with my son. We saw the... More

Our family LOVE this walk! It's not far from central Tauranga, has beautiful scenery & bush, is challenging but not too far for small children to walk & the waterfalls are stunning. Steep walk down & then up again.
