Description:

Free, one-hour guided tours of Parliament operate every day on the hour....

Free, one-hour guided tours of Parliament operate every day on the hour. Take a tour with one of our trained guides to visit key parts of Parliament's buildings and learn about our parliamentary processes, and have an insight in to New Zealand's history and culture. Tours operate seven days a week with the first tour at 10am, last tour 4pm. We recommend you arrive least 15 minutes before the tour departs as tour group sizes are limited and so you have time to check in your belongings. Everyone must leave their bags, coats, phones, cameras and other electronic devices in secure storage at the Visitor Centre in the Beehive. Individuals do not need to book. Groups of 10 or more are required to book their tour in advance. Specialist tours are avaiable on request but must be booked in advance.

The NZ Parliament House could be placed in any European city without looking bizarre. I do love this kind of architecture, but I would have appreciated more a building representing the 2 cultures sharing the Country.

Took the free one hour tour which was very informative. Prior to doing the tour we watched a short DVD on the history of the buildings. Our guide was able to answer our questions and had quite a good grasp of other countries politics. The buildings are beautifully restored and to see the earthquake proofing of the buildings was also... More

It was interesting to see the parliament building as there is mention of the beehive at the Wellington museum (its in the form of a mug). This was designed by Sir Basil Spence, the same man who designed Coventry cathedral and if you have a look at the cathedral across the road there are lots of similarities.

The one hour tour gives lots of background and history to this fascinating building. Tours are free and can be booked in advance although not essential. Very informative.

Head Office, yeah this is the place all the decisions are made in running our beautiful country. Fair to say they aren't doing to bad a job for us ALL. Parliament was sitting so we had full run of the place, including the debating chamber. Nice to get up close and personal. It is a MUST SEE

We visited the the Parliament Buildings and took a guided tour or all of the facilities. I was personally amazed at the beautiful old structures and old wood which gives this a very regal feel. During our tour, which was interesting, we did not get a lot about how their parliamentary system works. I would have like to have been... More
