We enjoyed our time walking through the gardens, they're beautifully kept and maintained, the path signage is excellent. We walked through after taking the cable car up. Recommended.

Go up the cable car and look at the museum, then a gentle stroll down through the botanic gardens admiring the plants and flowers. STOP off at the Botanic Gardens Cafe for a lovely lunch. Hone made crepes, cheese scones and sandwiches abound! The staff are brilliant! Friendly helpful and make sure your needs are met. Then continue on strolling... More

This was just ok but it was probably because we were too early in the season. Overall a nice walk on a nice day.

We came up here by cable car just before dusk. As we walked the trails we marveled at the collection of roses, the tiered gardens, the native shrubs and the abundance of colour throughout. The diversity of flora was remarkable. This place is well maintained. There is a children’s playground as well. It’s a short walk to the Cable Car... More

If you have a short stay in New Zealand and you are interested in local flora you have to walk this way back from the cable car top station down to town center. The way is marked by symbols engraved in the pathway, you cannot miss it. Nice benches to rest, nice views, nice coffee at the end.

Could spend an entire day here exploring all the diverse gardens. The sunny rose garden was in bloom with tea roses and fragrant floribundas.

We have visited the Wellington Botanic Gardens three times during 2016, visiting from the UK, not including days we have used the Cable Car to get between Wellington CBD and Kelburn where we are staying. These are beautiful gardens, wonderfully maintained, with a great variety of plants. We particularly like the rose garden. As an added bonus you get a... More
