An amazing garden tovisit. As it is quite sheltered it is still very pleasant to visit even on a windy day. The many pathways that always seem to lead you on a new exploration are truly wonderful. The gardens are beautifully kept and the begonia and orchid houses are truly unbelievable.

We are two couples from Canada that just arrived on the ferry from Picton. We enjoyed our walk around the botanical gardens. There is good variety of plants and the hilly terrain provides a range of microclimates and in some areas sheltering from city noise. I think it is worthwhile to walk to the top of the hill and over... More

This is a very beautiful Botanical Garden. We took the red cable car and walked down thru the Garden. Trails are mainly paved and well marked. Be sure to visit the rose garden.

During a sunny visit I guess is the best thing you can do in the city. It is not only the pluralistic garden itself but also the breathtaking city views from the top of the hill. Start from the top by taking the cable from the port and take the road downhill towards the main entrance.Remember that you are not... More

Took the cable car up and walked down through the garden. Incredibly beautiful with lots of neat plants and views. Even saw some ducks! Probably one of my favourite spots in Wellington.

We walked back into Wellington after riding the cable car up. The weather was kind and the downhill walk was quite long but gentle with lots of nice plants and things to look at on the way.

So much variety in the tree and plant life. Always clean and tidy. Great for kids The rose garden is a complete treasure - and you can get a cuppa and a snack to keep you going. Evening performances in the summer are a treat. Try getting there via the cable car from Lambtonn Quay and then walking down via... More

The garden is free . There are a multitude of paths . There are a wide variety of plants . Don't miss the rose garden or the begonia house. Take the cable car up and walk down and thru the gardens to the CBD.
