Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited this attraction as part of a coach tour of Wellington. The views from the summit are stunning and large areas of the city can be seen This is a great place from where to get a general view of the whole city.

Well worthwhile the drive to the top. The views were spectacular- from harbour to airport and all around. It was a windy day and one had sympathy for the pilots bringing in their planes.

What an amazing lookout with 360 views which a summary of the history of the formation of Wellington on the peak. There is also some amazing historic and modern architecture houses built on the step gradients to be seen on the road up and a short trip
From the Wellington CBD

The lookout also includes a public bus stop

Careful about the hike, no matter what I heard, it is not easy. Thankfully, there’s a bus from the city center to the lookout and back. Once you’re up there, the view is mesmerizing and so worth the trip

I went as part of a tour group as it is a good bit out of town. We were taken by bus to the lookout coach park (with very scenic views of the harbor as we travelled) and from there it is only about 60-70 steps to the lookout point.
You can just take in the views from the cor park if unable to climb the steps.
Great 360 degree views and fun to watch the planes come in in the distance to what looks like a tight airstrip between the hills and ending right at the water.
There is also a memorial to explorer Byrd up there now to have a look at.

The MOST beautiful view of downtown Wellington!

Everyone should make it a point to trek to the top for sunset! Also very biker friendly!

Incredible views and a wonderful time to meet locals from the area.

My partner shirked at the thought of climbing Mt Wellington, so I went solo. But while the mountainside is often quite steep, the path is well-made, clearly marked and not slippery (at least when I was there). Basically, I thought it easier than it looks - I was up and down from the Majoribanks St entrance in an hour. Of course, from the top the views are spectacular - across the city and the surrounding waterways.
