It's high up on the list of 'things to do' in Wellington but it's pretty ho-hum. If you have been on a funicular before, it's no big deal as transport. Wellington is not a particularly impressive skyline, and there are cruise ship and tour groups...More

$20 for return ticket or family which is much better value than other options. Nice experience and kids love the psychedelic tunnel of lights! Will go again

The ride is fun if you have never ridden such a cable car. It takes you up to the Botanical gardens and some nice views over the city and the harbour.

Saved a hike and worth the $9 for the views. What a hill! When you get to the top, there are lots of cute cafes down the street and even a cable car museum. We used it to pick up the shuttle to Zealandia.

Nice short tram ride from the heart of the city to the elevated botanical garden. The view from the top is fantastic.

Saw more scenery by driving to the top of the local mountain and going to its lookout point; also suggest you drive around the Wellington coast if you get some time

And for NZ $9 return, it's still relatively good value! It was great going up and enjoying a sparkling Wellington early summer afternoon with the sapphire-flecked sea brooding below!

Cheap quick trip up to see the view. You can walk down via the Botanic gardens. The volunteer people were very friendly and helpful.

While this is quaint- it is really the most efficient way to get up the hill and reasonably priced. There is a free shuttle van to Zealandia 20m from when you get off at the top. The cable car museum at the top is free...More
