I'm delighted to have discovered this hidden gem. Step inside and back in time to a beautiful and genuine Victorian perfumery. Francesco the parfumer and owner will introduce you to his essential oils, the different 'notes' and how his distillery works. There are gorgeous perfumey products for sale at great prices, all beautifully packaged. It's at the top of the... More

My partner and I happened to fall across this wonderful emporium that seemed like it popped straight from Alice in wonderland. One minute on a windy wellington hill, the next minute transported into the Victorian Era with a touch of the french countryside. Its a little hard to find, l but make sure you do. What has led me to... More

We walked past at closing time and were happy to simply look in the windows. Unknown to us, the owner was inside and asked if we'd like a quick look around. He told us about the perfume making process and it was clear that he genuinely wants to share his passion (and at no point did he mention money). We... More

We just happened to find this shop when we took the tramcar to the top of the hill. The store is located around the back of the village. The perfumes are all hand made and mixed from natural ingredients. They are totally unique and totally amazing. My daughter purchased a Lilly of the Valley and the scent is so clear... More

Hi Mariada89, Thanks for your kind review, it is much appreciated! To make sure future guests don't feel misled however, I thought I'd correct you on one point. You say: "The perfumes are all [...] mixed from natural ingredients". While it is true that compared to the current age of virtually 100% synthetic perfumes I still use a high percentage... More

Fragrifert Perfume Shop, at the top of the Wellington cable car ride , is like stepping back into the Victorian Era. Not only is the shop decor that of the Queen Victoria period but the owner, Francesco van Eerd, is a character straight from a Jules Verne novel! The reason for the shop is perfume and fragrance and the making... More

Took the Wellington Cable Car up to the top and found this delightful shop. It was so interesting what was on display. A woman (maybe not a man!) could easily spend an hour in there, reading about the history of the owner, his craft and his "tools of trade". There is also a cafe next door if you want to... More

We went on the cable car for first time in 40 years and discovered this amazing perfumery behind the cafe. The host was informative and the shop was well presented. Lovely to see someone with a passion for his business and creating lovely authentic perfumes. Needs to be seen to be believed

A one-day stop in Wellington and of course, a ride in the cable car was a must. At the top, tucked away behind a cafe, I was enticed by wonderful perfumes drifting out of the shop - so unlike the harsh smells of modern soap and perfume shops. Stepping inside to investigate, I was greeted by Francesco, the owner who... More

The owner, Francesco was dressed for the part and was very welcoming, a step back in time. He is very passionate about his craft and the whole experience was very worthwhile. Our group probably spent 45 minutes at least and I was successful in the 'smell' competition and so came away with an extra phial of perfume of my choice.... More
