Half Day Martinborough Winery Tour from Wellington

94 reviews
An hour or so north of Wellington, Martinborough is fast making a name for itself as one of the Southern Hemisphere’s leading wine regions. Each weekend, Wellingtonians make the trek over the Remutakas to escape to this European-style wine village. This small group tour is a convenient way to visit Martinborough. There’s no need to stress about driving on country backroads, and no need to plan the day’s itinerary - leaving you to focus on the wine and the iconic scenery.

I had a wonderful 2 hour trek on a gorgeous horse called Gandhi. The ride started with a few more riders (including some beginners who in no way detracted from my ride as a more experienced rider) who only went for 1 hour before I and my experienced guide continued on for another hour. We had plenty of gorgeous canters around the hills - Gandhi was soooooo comfortable! All the horses were immaculately behaved - a credit to the establishment and very well cared for. The scenery was absolutely spectacular which I enjoyed despite the strong winds! The highlight though was seeing wild Kaimanawa horses. This is one of very few establishments I've ridden at that will happily cater for both beginners and experienced riders simultaneously whilst having completely safe horses for everyone. Would definitely go again.

We had so much fun at this place. Mandy and her team were fantastic and went out of their way to make my niece and nephew’s first riding experience one to remember. Thank you Mandy and your team, we had a great time and will definitely come back.

My whole family had an amazing time on our house trek. It can be hard to find outdoor activities that our whole family enjoys but this defiantly ticked all the boxes for us. Fantastic guides, friendly horse lovers that really care about us and the horses. They really went out of their way to make sure we all had a great time. Defiantly keen to go back again. I wasn't even very keen but I have been converted.

This was my kids' first horse trek (they're aged 8 and 11 and have done some riding lessons) and it could not have been better. The route took in steep country, stream crossings, summit ridges and pine forest, and the horses were chilled and obedient. The guides were fantastic, with a lovely manner with the children. A simply wonderful experience, and so close to Wellington CBD!
