Everyone says this is a must do and I am not sure why. It is a mall with very uninteresting cafes and even worse shopping. Wellington has so much to offer that I would do the interesting and great and avoid this.

This area reminds me a bit of shoreditch in london. Full of little independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in a long strip. The buildings are different to their surroundings and the little touches such as the green man to cross the street is infact a dancer is pretty fun. A good place to go in the evening with lots... We had a very good time on Cuba Street during our visit to Wellington. The stores are trendy and fun (loved Abstract!) and the street food amazingly delicious. We happened to be there during Cuba Dupa, a street fair that goes on all afternoon into the night and closes many local roads. Lucky us! More street food, more entertainers, more... More

Worth visiting if you travel in groups at night. Lots of ageing venues but too many yobbos on the street - loud and crass

We specifically made a point of visiting this area as it had such great reviews, but we were so disappointed and only stayed a few minutes. There didn't seem to be much to see apart from shops, it felt crowded and unclean.

A great part of Wellington with a huge amount of bars and restaurants to choose from. It was lively friendly and a must for anyone visiting

Very cool street when it is busy & stores are open. But we visited at 9am one Sunday morning and could only find one food place open which was a shame. Love the vibe of the street & the unique foods but it isn't worth the trip for us again.

Lively, fun, noisy, busy, with great street food. This is the most hectic area of Wellington, a place for young (and old) to hang out and let their hair down. Lots of little craft stores with original trinkets and possible souvenirs and absolute masses and masses of food outlets - many of which allow for sampling before choosing your main... More

Cuba Street may not have been at its very best because of rain. It was OK...but nothing so terribly unusual to find in a city.

You are not just looking at that collection of cafés and resturants or those pieces of art or even the diverse collection of outlets. You are basically looking at history modernity and freedom going hand in hand.
