Scorching Bay is a little bit away from the CBD but if you have a car, or a willing to take the bus, this would be a lovely place for a seaside picnic. There are always families out there and fisherman spending their time by the sea. If you are a runner, Scorching Bay could be on a very nice... More

This beach not only has beautiful views, but has private spots too! The main beach is sheltered by rocks at each end. If you drive just passed the main carparks and just past the rocks at the north end, this is a secondary gravel patch for carparking. Park up here, and instead of heading back to the main beach walk... More

What a spot. White sand ,hot sun , no wind it is probably somewhere not many go but if you have some free time its worth a visit.

It's SO beautiful here I can't recommend a visit enough!!! The beach is beautiful and the water is clear, or you can lie around on the grass and just take in the view. The surrounding accommodations are worth a look and a general drive around this coast is an ideal way to spend time with pals!

Really cool place to get away from the city, yet so close to town. Nice quiet beach away from the masses. Has a great café there for great food and ice creams. A little jem

It has nice views, but thats about it. And the view wasn't even that great either. If you want to eat something in this area, be prepared to spend a small fortune.

Windy Wellington was living up it's reputation this Summer, so a leisurely drive around the Mirimar bays to Scorching Bay and we found our Nirvana. Clean changing rooms at 3.00 pm on a Tuesday afternoon, litter free park and beach and many happy swimmers and sun worshipers abound. Local store selling ice cream cones, no dogs, clear water and plenty... More

Makes for a lovely scenic drive around the coastal fringe of Wellington city. Always different. Stunning on a sunshine day, windy beautiful on a wintry day.

I spent two hours at Scorching Bay beach yesterday. It is one of the very few beaches around Wellington that actually has more sand than rocks. You can bring your towel and sunbathe, you can walk barefoot and you can get a snack at a cafe across the road. The beach was getting busy around 1pm when families started coming... More
