Visited on Tuesday 22nd May. Cathedral Square is the most visited part of Christchurch and still bears the scars of the earthquake. I hope to return one day to see Cathedral Square restored to its former glory.

Christchurch is our home town, but we don't go into the centre of town very often. This week we went to take a look at the photos from the Photographer of the Year Competition. The display of them finishes today, 26 November, but I believe...More

Cathedral Square was once a centre of sightseeing activity in the town centre. Sadly, the earthquakes of 2010-11 damaged the Christchurch Cathedral beyond repair. It is now sectioned off and off limits to visitors, leaving the square somewhat in a state of limbo when it...More

It's still off-limits to the public with a fence around it, but I was actually kind of surprised to see the big cathedral in a better condition than I had expected (really the damage I saw was pretty much "only on one side" where there...More

Finally got to see famous cathedral that was destroyed by EARTH quake just a few years ago. Some parts Christchurch city is in redeveloping. It was cool to walk around the CBD and witness lots of building still being rebuild including this amazing Cathetral.

Cathedral Square marks the centre of the city. It still bears the scars from the devastating earthquake of 2011, but is slowly bouncing back. The new library will help.
