Take the time to really look around!

There is a lot to see, so make sure you have a good 2 hours to visit. The 75th Anniversary of Air NZ shouldn't be missed.

Went into the museum after a trip around the botanical gardens. Great little museum where you can learn loads about the local culture and history. There is also a really good section on Antarctica too. Highly recommended.

The main reason I visited was to see the Air New Zealand exhibit. The museum has a number of levels. Entry is free, so you don't have to see everything at once. There are interesting sections about Maori life before European contact, and native bird and animal displays.

The museum is free so we thought that it would be worth a visited, refusing a map on the way in because how complicated can a museum be? At first there is a bit about the Moa bird and then the first settlers coming and killing them all off, followed by a bit on the Maori villages. I remember a... More

Easy to find and central to many other activities or bus trips. Not too large and well worth an hour's visit.

Lots to look at. The old street is great. Loved riding the old bike. Cafe was busy though. Loved the exhibits and the Antarctic area. The kids area was brilliant.
