My husband and I had limited time in Christchurch while touring the South Island and ran into some cloudy/drizzly days whilst there. We took a chance to take in the gondola when the clouds lightened, but unfortunately when we got there, it was posted that there was 'no visibility at the top'. We decided to go ahead anyways because we... More

Stunning views out to the beach/harbour, over Lyttleton, and over Christchurch itself. I don't do heights very well, but this gondola didn't freak me out that much, so that was a bonus :). Neat gift shop, with a lovely lady attending the counter, very friendly and cheerful, down to earth. Great information boards around the deck of the centre. Neat... More

I am very scared of heights but this was something my husband wanted to do, so I braved it out! It was so worth while, such beautiful views and a great experience. You can have four people at a time in one gondola. Once at the top there is a shop, a lovely place where you can get a coffee/tea/cakes... More

Having visited several gondola in NZ and around the world, this one was a bit dull. The views are great, the cafe is ok, the gift shop sells the usual tourist guff, and thats about it. There isn't really a "must visit" reason to go here unlike the gondola in Roturua and Queenstown.

Well organised with great views of the city and the surrounding area. The gift shop was very reasonably priced when compared to some other shops at tourist locations. Food is a little expensive but great view goes free with it,The Time tunnel was a bit light on. It only takes 6 minutes and just touched lightly on the areas history.... More

I visited this attraction with my mother and elderly Grandmother (there was no option on TA for choosing Family without children). It was a stunning clear sunny day and the 360 degree views were awesome. All of the staff were fantastic. The people operating the Gondola stations were very helpful and stopped the ride to enable easy access into the... More

Great trip to the top. Good views and you can also watch the hang gliders taking off. Cafe at the top. Worth doing.

A lengthy and enjoyable ride up & down, with excellent views. The visitor centre at the top is large, with a very large and good quality gift shop, cafe, and - again - excellent all round views. Views are had from inside the cafe, from decking that runs all around the centre, and also the facility of exiting onto and... More

We had a very pleasant experience on the Gondola. We went during the week and we didn't have to wait in line. There were two groups ahead of us and they were quickly loaded up. Typically they limit 3 people to a car unless you have children along and they will put 4 to a Gondola. There is a gift... More
