Our gondolier was great. He had a fun sense of humor and was extremely knowledgeable. A fantastic experience. Everyone should try this

This was named by the Scottish Deans brothers as Avvon, after a river they'd fished in as boys in Scotland. the Maori name is Otakaro and for Christchurch - Otautahi

This little river winds its way through the Botanical gardens and Christchurch. It is a lovely to amble along the banks through the shady trees that line the river.

Does not seem to matter where you are in Christchurch you are close to the Avon. A lot more kayakers on the river than there used to be. Watching the guys putting is always interesting. Best stretch being through the gardens.
