We viewed the river from the road then travelled on a punt to see the sights (paid power man to row). There were also canoes available for hire. It was a very busy river with all ages in different types of boats.

This river is so beautiful. The water is clean and clear. The ducks, especially the babies were so fun to watch. There is beautiful landscape all around. And, some people get to live right next to it. What a beautiful resource to have in your community.

Nice spot to chill in the center of Christchurch. Check out the historic plaques that shed light on the background and importance of this river.

Go to the boat shed and take the trip on the river punt, a great way to see another view of Christchurch and discover more with the commentary on the punt. Put on the list.

The Avon is a quiet and tranquil river in the heart of Christchurch. With numerous picturesque road and foot bridges crossing it. The city council has created a number of rest and seating areas on the banks of the river as well as walking tracks.

The river meanders through the botanic gardens and park with punts plying up an down. Very nice and a darn sight cheaper than a goldola in Venice I guess but a sight one sees en route elsehwere. rather than an attraction in its self. The local authority are spending money here though big time to make it a sight worth... More

We picked up a leaflet from the info centre in the botanic gardens and it was easy to follow the trail.

The Avon river passing through Christurch on is winding beautiful tranquil and winding way. Bordered by greenest greenery, lush vegetation and emitting a tranquility in-mitten the city. Punted by the Fedora capped punter, silently in your lovely ladies company, you are feeling the peaceful and romantic vibes in absolute serenity. Silently enjoyed absolutely divine!

It was a positive experience to walk beside the Avon river, especially in the earthquake affected areas. The areas through the Botanical garden were beautiful and also to see the ducks with their ducklings.
