We spent approximately half an hour on this cemetery- it is clean, has very old graves (most of them more then 100yrs. old), nice flowers every here and there and birdsounds everywhere...a very peaceful spot to spend some quiet time at.

I love old cemeteries and Addington is a particularly interesting old cemetery with notables dating back to the beginning of European settlement. Do look out for the white camellias marking the grave of Kate Sheppard, heroine of the NZ Votes for Women campaign.

Haunting beautiful, inner city graveyard. Easy to find Kate Shepherd Grave site on excellent sign board just inside Cemetery. Headstones been carefully laid down after falling in Canterbury Earthquakes. Good gravel paths between graves. Must see for people interested in Kate Shepherd, Women's Rights Movement.

An old cemetery with an eerie feel, often used as a short cut in the area. Located in Selwyn St, Addington

A review of a cemetery seems a little off wack but this particular cemetery is the final resting place of Kate Shepherd whom fought for women's rights to vote. This movement made waves world wide and sparked a revolution of change and woman's rights. Good...More

We visited the cemetery to look up the wife's relatives. It has been damaged by the earthquake but staff have made great inroads to save some of the headstones. There are a few of the cities fathers and mothers who shaped the city in the...More

This cemetry is a mix of pride and abandonment. The council has put through some lovely plants, paths, and scenery, but the graves themselves are often quite damaged (particularly from the earthquake) and not looked after. We used to live near here- most people use...More
