Nice to warm your rear on the sun warmed stone benches on a cold day and near a scenic river scene.

Dear Madam/Sir, RE: Bridge of remembrance is a walk way into the city streets that paves way to the shopping centres and malls. Thank you

Nice to warm your rear on the sun warmed stone benches -- they are gray or black and absorb the sun's heat all day and so you feel like you are sitting on a heated seat when you sit on them. There is also a stone ping pong table but no balls or paddles were available when we were there... More

A must to see in Christchurch. A peaceful way of remembering those that protect NZ. Sit, relax and reflect.

Came across this near the temporary container city. A great site to remember those who fought in the war. It is next to the Avon river and has some free public ping pong tables around for use. Great little area to stroll around and is easy to get to near Cashel avenue and right in from of the tram stop.... More

Previously damaged bridge, now restored, is a memorial to those that have fallen. It crosses over the Avon River at Cashel Street across from the RE-Start Mall. We saw it at dusk; as the sun ebbs away it is still an imposing sight. There is a wooden wheel close by and many flowers alongside the river on the waterfront.

I made a quick stop by the memorial on the last night in Christchurch and it looks a little cooler at night with the lights illuminating the arch over the bridge, and the memorial is dedicated to those from the Canterbury region who were summoned to fight in the previous world wars Makes for a nice stop while walking in... If you are in the city you need to stop off here and have a look at the bridge. You need to take some photos here too. The bridge of remembrance has been beautifully restored after the earthquake.

lovely memorial to our fallen however when you get there there is nothing in the way of a plaque or information board that tells you anything about it - when it was built or by who etc

Nice place for a quick stop, very close to the Re-Start shopping complex. Also very scenic, with the bridge overlooking the river often populated with ducks. Worth a short visit.

This is a nice way to have a memorial rather than just a monument. The arch is well done and the bridge over the Avon quite pleasant. There are shops and parks nearby and this isn’t out of the way.
