We passed this sculpture on the way into Christchurch. It is a big piece and difficult to tell what it is. I’m assuming that with it all lit up it looks better.

Giant cylindrical sculpture covered in mini windmills. Looks good at night when lit by coloured lights. Strategically placed on main route North out of Chritchurch this spectcular artwork is well worth a short visit.

The multiple, wind-driven fans provide interest in the daytime whilst the changing colours , reflected off the rotating blades are even more spectacular at night.

Quite an impressive artwork - given to Christchurch by Sydney (After being displayed on Sydney Harbour Bridge on NYE 2005). Prominently displayed on the main motorway going North of Christchurch, between Belfast and the Waimak river.

Let's be honest, I'm not a 'fan'! Perhaps if I was it would receive a warmer welcome. It just seems to be a bunch of scrape metal left on the side of the motorway. If it was windy more often it might look/work better. Instead...More

You can see this when you're going towards kaiapoi from Christchurch. To be honest, it is really big. And that's about it really. Go back in your car and continue your travel.
