See the church and the museum pieces

It was built in 1873 and was fun to look around. I particularly enjoyed the stained glass windows. You can look around the church itself and a small museum and shop.

Wonderful stained glass windows, the woodwork inside is just amazing. The church is so high it makes me wonder how they built it.

Great to stroll to if you are in Dunedin. A nice place to relax and read a book. Can't really go in but the grounds are free to public.

I wasn't sure that there were any good examples of Christian architecture in new Zealand, but a visit to the First Church certainly dispelled any such thoughts, The exterior proportions were as good as any in Europe, and the interior space well designed. the roof structure was pretty amazing and the positioning of the main stain glass windows a highlight.... Easy to see why this church is regarded as the most impressive of New Zealand's nineteenth-century churches- absolutely loved visiting this church- great architecture and history. Worth a visit.
