Visited the Saturday of Easter Weekend and very excited to see the Waipapa Point Lighthouse with scaffolding around it - hope Trip Advisor changes the pic once it is done up. Have visited before and struck it lucky and was able to climb to the...More

After a short drive down a gravel road you'll come to the lighthouse parking area, all for free of course, along with wheelchair accessible toilets. From the car park it is just a few minutes walk to the lighthouse. Interesting, yet sad, history about the...More

Wouldn't have been the southern most point of the South Island if not windy and wet, but worth the 20 minute drive from Invercargill. Good walking track from the sign post and can access by car.

Some metal roads but pretty good ones. Beaches and scenery were breathtaking. Seals onthe beach to top it all off

Naturally the lighthouse is right at the coast and has great view of the waves breaking on the rocks. It was quite windy on my visit, so I did not stay long. Note that access is over a gravel road only.

The lighthouse has been repainted since the photo shown. Lovely piece of history and wonderful views. Sealions sunbathe on the beach below. Sand dunex close by. Worth a stop.

It was worth the beautiful drive and a look, but it was quite windy, cold and rainy, which is not unusual, so we only had a quick look. Would have liked to see it up close. If the weather cooperates, do it!
