We spent 5 hours by bus getting there, and 5 hours getting back. It was raining and foggy, and you did not see much. Inside the boat it was comfortable, but you could not see much out the windows because of rain. The waterfalls were great, but we could appreciate them only by going outside and getting wet. I am... Mitre Peak Cruises are marginally more expensive than the other companies, however; their more personalised service, longer water time and smaller boat meant that we got up close and personal with Milford Sound. It was a great and must do activity when it NZ's glorious South Island. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable. The boat takes you right up... More

The trip was great although we did not go out to the open sea as we expected, this may have been due to the amount of rain we had. By the time we boarded it was throwing it down but the rain increased the waterfalls so it was a good sight. Many of the waterfalls fall from a great height... More

Hi there. Thanks for your review; its sounds like you visited on a typical Milford Sound day. Not everyone gets to see those amazing temporary waterfalls! The mountains here are very big and the lake is very deep, which just adds to the mystical atmosphere! More

Our Milford Sound day was spectacular. We were super lucky with the weather - having blue skies the whole way. We got an early bus from Queenstown, did the cruise and then flew back (highly recommendable!!) The cruise was fantastic. The captain and tour guide were very knowledge and the commentary was funny and interesting. They were both very approachable... More

Hi Fiona, it sounds like you had a great time! Taking the coach is a great way to experience Milford-lets you take in the beautiful scenery, and take away the stress of driving. And you’re right; the smaller boats mean closer encounters with the wildlife you saw. We are happy you enjoyed your experience! More

This cruise line advertises that they get closer to the sights than others and I can verify the truth of that assertion. Their boat is quite a bit smaller than the Real Journeys and the Go Orange boats. We only had about 10-12 passengers on our 2:50 PM cruise. The captain and crew were excellent. We went all the way... Didnt have the best weather the day we went however still managed to see some magic! Much smaller boat, and think we only had 8 people on our cruise, first one of the morning as we drove up from Te Anau early. Staff knowledgable. Boat goes out further into the ocean than other companies. Can get a little rough. Staff... More

The Milford Sound cruise was amazing with great views and spectacular scenery. The cruise was kept relatively small which was nice as we were able to get up and close to the wildlife and seals. We were a bit disappointed with our driver as we found him to be rude and quite short with passengers. With that said, the coach... More

Thank you for your feedback, it’s great to hear you had an amazing time on our cruise in Milford Sound. It’s unfortunate the driver came across rude and short with the passengers. We agree with you that even the drive to Milford sound is exceptional and the Cruise tops it all off. More

When you are there you will surely feel you are in heaven. Nature has lavishly bestowed this place with beauty. It is a wonderful place.when i was there it was raining, not too heavily, still it was so nice and wonderful. I stayed in Christchurch, from there to Queen's town. There i stayed in a nice and beautiful motel and... More

We are very great full for your feedback and so happy to hear that you enjoyed and appreciated this very special place. The rain tops it all off with the beautiful waterfalls and if it didn’t rain this spectacular ecosystem wouldn’t be here. More

Took the Close encounters with nature cruise.Great trip,no more than 80 people will be on board at any one time. Our Cruise actually had only around 20 folks. This I believe is so important,as you can enjoy a civilized trip without battling with 100's of other people to take those special photos. This Company knows it's stuff. The Captain spotted & circled a... More

Your feedback is appreciated, we strive to give our passengers the best experience and show off Milford Sound. We agree the smaller boat is the way to go with less crowds more time and closer encounters. Seeing wildlife is always a bonus to top the trip off, Great that you saw the Fiordland crested Penguins some of the rarest in... More
