Stopped here after leaving Milford Sound, set up our deck chairs and had lunch by the natural spring fed creek. Very relaxing and peaceful with views of huge mountains all around. Two kea came to visit us. What beautifully coloured friendly birds they are. Filled our water bottles with clear cold water from the creek before leaving. Well worth the stop. Just remember don’t feed the kea and beware they like to eat the rubber seals on cars.

If your pressed for time you could skip some of the prior spots like Eglinton Valley and Mirror Lakes. But this is where the splendour of Milford Sound really starts, so you should absolutely stop here. A great place to stop and really soak up the view. Without the international tourists, it was blissfully quiet, which made it even better. I dread the day that the floodgates open and it gets overwhelmed again.
