The excursion to Doubtful Sound is well worth the time and expense. Included is a scenic boat ride across Lake Manipouri which in itself is awesome. Then you have a coach ride across the pass to the Sound. We had several stops for photos. Then you board a large, comfortable boat that is partially enclosed to travel through the Sound.... More

Just perfect! You can't go wrong with an overnight cruise with these guys. The team on the Southern Secret were incredible, amazing hospitality and luxury accommodation. Only 11 on the boat, so an intimate and personal experience for everyone. Really worth splashing out on, best thing we've done in NZ so far.

We had the fortune to visit on one of the many rainy days and the waterfalls were out in force as a result. The dolphins paid a visit and it was a very interesting trip to a lovely tranquil part of the world.

Doubtful Sound is a really fantastic trip you start with a coach ride, then a trip across a lake another coach trip across the pass and then to the sounds. They are so peaceful you, we only saw one other boat unlike Milford Sounds. Doubtful Sounds is much bigger it's a three hour sail and we went right out to... More

do the overnight boat trip, great fun and most interesting seeing the Sound at different times of day. If it rains it is a bonus as the mountains come alive with waterfalls. Absolute brilliant

We picked up this tour in Frankton, Queenstown with Real Journeys. The bus trip to Manapouri was 2 hours, then 45 mins on boat, then 45 mins to Deep Cove and 3 hours in Doubtful Sound. Obviously bus and boat return trips as well. The scenery is exceptional in Doubtful Sound but the majority of the time it is raining... More

We booked this overnight trip to Doubtful Sound and it was superbly organized by Real journeys, every little detail was covered and all of the staff were so friendly and went about their work in a very professional manner. We were so lucky with the weather and it was hot and sunny which allowed us to be amazed by the... More

Doubtful Sound is a piece of the earth that is both majestic and awesome. True it rains a lot but that is when the environment really comes alive with water spouting off the cliffs and crags in torrents. It's not cheap to make the trip via the 'Real Journeys' company but you can't come all the way to NZ South... More
