Form Tauranga Bay to the Cape, take the time to walk the whole trial and not just each end as you don't want to miss the bay in the middle. Time your visit for sunset & watch the sun sink into the ocean.

Although the walkway is a little steep in places it is so worthwhile with marvellous views of the ocean, seals and encounters with the local weka (swamp hens).

Visited on Sunday 13th May and again on Monday 14th May. One end is at Tauranga Bay Seal Colony and the other is Cape Foulwind Lighthouse. Both have a large carpark and the walkway is well maintained.

Our family took a walk around the Cape Foulwind Walkway and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is a good walking track which is well maintained. The seals are a bonus, they are so cute.

Well maintained walkway in a remote location with weka and seals in abundance. Good car parking with the sightseeing within easy walking distance.

You can choose the starting points. The easiest is from the car park next to the light house, only 15 min walk to the light house, and if you want to continue to see the seal colony, you can continue to the other 1 hour...More

Sorry for not replying earlier - the seal colony is open 24/7. Indications are that there are resident seals there all year. Enjoy your visit.
