Not worth it

Staff were friendly but this is not really that good. We were keen to see the ‘chocolate factory’ however needed to pay $20 to go through to a shop that sold chocolate made elsewhere. Just a waste of time...

Just a shop
Apr 2021 • Couples
It's just an enormous shop full of junky souvenirs. The painting itself is big but not particularly impressive. Save your money.

The main thing of interest is the Big picture, an amazing work of art, bet he was pleased when he had finished.
I believe it is going in the Guinness book of records, definitely worth a look.

Don't go

This place is a tourist trap. You pay money so they can sell you stuff. Yes the painting is large but the quality is mediocre at best. Don't waste your time or money.

Not worth time or money

Was great to see the acrylic painting but the rest of the exhibit you had to pay for was basically an extension of the shop. Every other room was selling things. There was a video running in the room carved out as a mine but the tv was so small you could hardly see it and the footage was that old I didn’t want to stand there watching it. The last room was the same where the ‘chocolate factory’ was advertised. Far from that, it was a few chocolates for sale in bags. Nothing made on site. I don’t think they should have been charging an entry fee to continue shopping. Maybe for the largest Painting but everything else no. Staff were friendly and helpful however.

Education at best

i stopped by here to visit the ajoining chocolate factory. Very interesting information as i ended up taking a quick tour of the decorative rooms and opals rooms. There is a very beautiful very massive canvas painting at the end just before you enter the chocolate factory. I didn't stay out too long in BH due to the heat but the display was very lifelike with the canvas painting int he background. Highly recommended.

There are better things to see in Broken Hill

Not overly impressed. Had already visited Jeff Morgan in Hawker and the comparison between the two painters on he same sort of painting is wide. The painting is nowhere near the quality however, the concept is good and it looks great.
It was overpriced for what is was and the fact that you couldn't photograph was very disappointing as you go away with a memory and not a photo you can ;look back on to relive the experience. Misleading in a number of ways in that there wasn't any chocolate factory operating and no silversmith on the premises.

Boring! Boring! Boring!

Grossly overpriced and misleading. No silversmith, no chocolate factory, no nothing. Very big tourist rip-off with just trinkets for sale. Even at $7.50 for seniors grossly over. Should be free.
