Mid-2020 saw the inception of Hope Distillery launching with a range of premium Australian grain spirits including Gin, Vodka and Moonshine. Our recently renovated Cellar Door is open 7 days, 10am - 5pm for wine, beer and spirits tasting.

Fabulous concert and a lovely venue, however the dictatorship of what was ans wasn't allowed was dreadful. Very lucky I purchased an actual seat as cushions with backs weren't allowed nor beach chair. Had a token for a wine bottle purchase which had to be brought by 7pm and prices were ridiculous!!! Food queues weren't too bad and there was plenty of variety to choose from again prices were expensive. I wont ever go back to a concert at Hooe estate due to the way management treat their "guests" they choose to put money ahead of anything. Which is disappointing as it is a beautiful venue.

Great concert, incompetent venue. Had to wait by the gate for 15 min on arriving as they ran out of wristbands to access the seated area, ended up giving up and so did the staff checking on entry. Seats were so tightly ziptied together that they were only spacious enough for kids to sit comfortably. They told us to bring bottles of wine back before the bar closed for a refund, then when we did we were told that the refunds stopped after 8:00pm. So many restrictions that people obviously got into the pre drinks as the path in from the carpark was absolutely covered in empty bottles/cans, and so was the rest of venue due to a complete lack of bins anywhere. We will never return to this venue, should rename it Hopeless Estate! Cold Chisel were excellent and deserve way better than this rubbish, so happy we chose to go to Sydney to see Elton John.

Elton John Concert venue, Sir Elton was amazing, but the venue management, yet again, let the beautiful venue down.
Despite being a winery, they managed not to have any of their sparking wine for sale by bottle (everything else was for sale by bottle, and the sparkling was listed on the menu as for sale by bottle) so I had to buy 4 glasses (4 glasses max per person). Literally stood and watched the dude open a bottle, pour it into 4 glasses which obviously pretty much emptied the bottle, I then had to shove my way back thru the crowds carrying 4 glasses of liquid. No explanation of why I could buy wine per bottle but not sparkling.
All of the food vendors had ran out of vegetarian food by 6pm.
This is the second event I’ve been to at Hope Estate which has been terribly managed, the last being the cheese and chocolate festival which had ran out of food by lunch time on the first day.

I went with some friends to see the Elton John concert, we had great seats and what we saw of the show was fantastic. I doubt that Hope Estate has any understanding of the responsible service of alcohol, there were so many really drunk people there. The security tried their best to look after things but it was an uphill job for them trying to calm so many aggressive drunks. By 9-30pm we were afraid of what might happen so we decided to leave.

Hi Virginiab62,
Thank you for your review. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the show!
We're sorry to hear that you felt unsafe during the event and that we didn't meet your expectation in regards to other guests drinking. Our aim is to offer a safe and fun space for all attendees and are glad to hear the Security presence helped with that for you. We'll take on board your experience and we hope you'll give us a second chance down the track as we'd love to have you back! All the best!

Well, not much to say, Last time we went it was a couple of years ago and does not look like any improvement but having the capacity to renovate the premises.
Service last time was poor also. This time we brought other friends, it was straight away advised of the tasting costs $10 per person and this comes off when you buy two bottles. It was out last winery for the day too which we had been to 6 wineries and all but 1 charged $5 tasting. (This was not what was expected and the blame was due to renovations and many people trying but not buying. Staff levels very low and it was not a good experience from the start.
The host was OK at the start and friendly albeit the service was slow and quick as it was 4:20 pm so quick drink up. Once we had looked at purchasing a few bottles including a signature range we went to the counter to pay and we wanted to pay for our wines and our friends pay for their purchase but the person who was registering the sales rolled her eyes as it was too difficult to do and we were given plain plastic bags for the wine and no labels on them and no cardboard wine bags and when we asked she shrugged he shoulders and said they don't have any as they were renovating. Who cares and this is not our problem? she went to our original host who was about 1 metre away and asked and she just shrugged her shoulders and did not even look at us or apologised. If they did show at least some eye contact or say we are really sorry, we would have purchased the wine and a sale made but she didn't.
So unlucky, we took some photos anyway and took our taste test money.

Appalling customer service!
Staff were rude, unpleasant, unhelpful and ill informed as they couldn’t answer any questions about their produce.
They were more interested in whispering to each other than serving our group of 10 paying a considerable amount of money.
Utterly disappointing experience as we had heard such great things. The staff and customer service at Hope really let’s their delicious tasting ale down as I would not recommend visiting nor would I return.

We called in one day to book a beer tasting but were told there were none until the following day. I paid for the tasting and we booked lunch for the following day.
The following day we turned up and were told they could not find my payment or booking. After a few minutes it was found on the 'other sheet'.
"Tasting" means getting a paddle with selections and sitting down on your own and tasting. There are no notes to assist.
Nonetheless I bought a case ($226 ouch), though there was a $15 discount (the cost of the tasting). I handed over the voucher and asked for a case. The assistant went off, but there were none left so he made it up with 4 packs; no problem.
Unfortunately he forgot to deduct the $15, so went to a supervisor for assistance. She came along and said I could not have it now, but I could choose something else. I said I didn't want anything else and she said the system wasn't designed for refunds.
I resisted a discussion in the legality of what she was saying, as I have an unfair advantage, but having made it clear that I wanted the discount that they had contracted to deliver by handing me a voucher, she went off to, 'ring the manager to try and sort it out".
Having waited for several more minutes the assistant gave me the $15 from his own pocket and said that he would sort it out with the supervisor later.
Having made the simple human error that anyone could have made the only person who genuinely tried to resolve it was the assistant and I give him full credit for that.
We didn't stay for lunch and we won't be back.

This place is well located, surrounded by the vineyard and kangaroos roaming around. We loved the food, we loved the beer but we were overcharged twice, first time it was $15 more and the second time $3. when we tried to talk to the employees, the lady insinuated that we should forget about the $3 because it was a little amount.
I understand that is a little amount and they were probably overworked (we saw at least 3 different groups of people arriving for wine tasting), but if it was the other way around (me paying $3 less) the story would be different.
We traveled from all the way from Sydney just to visit this place and get some of their amazing beers but If the owners are reading this, maybe consider hiring some extra people on weekends.

Hi NiaO1990, Thanks for reviewing us! We must apologise that you were over charged and that wasn't resolved when you queried it. If you'd like to be in touch with us directly at marketing@hopeestate.com.au I can get some more information from you. Really appreciate you letting us know we seemed understaffed that day, we'll take that on board.
Glad you enjoyed the beers and the food though! We do our best to keep making great beers and are always excited to hear patrons are digging the range! Hope that you might give us another chance when you're next up in the Hunter Valley! All the best, Hope Estate Team

I recently purchased tickets to see the killers at hope estate which I have been looking forward to for months.
Unfortunately a few days before the event I tested positive for covid-19, cough, running noes, sore throat, the whole lot
Upon contacting Hope to request a refund due to having to issolate (as I am symptomatic and a front line health worker) I was told a simple " unlikely and I should contact ticket master"(where I purchased the tickets.
Now after "reviewing" my request it was declined with ticket master stating "Ticketmaster acts as the agent to those who are promoting or otherwise providing the events and therefore are not obliged to issue refunds due to the event holders cancellation policy"
So I'm assuming hope estate are going against nsw health recommended isolation procedures and expect me to either go to the concert, risking posible large scale spread of the covid-19 virus, or just throw away $400.
Just another case of hope estate caring more about the money than the safety and well-being of its patrons

We dropped into the Hope Estate to actually view the estate and also to take some pictures of the kangaroo’s which gather in large numbers on the grassy slopes. The Estate is lovely with a good cellar door which must be booked ahead to avoid disappointment. There is also a large outdoor amphitheater which hosts many concerts and accommodation available.

Hi Ellemay,
Thanks for reviewing us! Yes, the mob of Kangaroos are here pretty much daily. They're a cheeky lot - always lounging and enjoying the sunshine while we are busy working! Glad you stopped in and hope you will visit again soon! Have a great day

Hey lleo21
Just wondering if you bought tickets through hope estate? Im looking at tickets for Elton John and on their packages it says ground floor terrace but I am confused as to where this might be in relation to the stage?
Thanks!
Written 25 November 2019
Hi
Have been to Hope Estate for a few concerts ( Tim McGraw, Tina Turner, Powder Finger but only General admin) and believe the ground floor terrace is as it sounds, It is positioned up the top of the hill, 100m from where they usual build the stage, so you are at the back but have cover and the private bar, they always have screens both sides of the stage. Ring Hope estate and ask for a detailed site layout as Elton John is one of the big celbs and things maybe built to accommodate the bigger crowds?
Cheers
PS Book ahead as the good close wineries fill up quick and its easier to walk back to accommodation as parking is terrible to get out after concert.
Written 27 November 2019
Is the amphitheater flat or is there a bit of a slope/rise? I would assume since it’s called an amphitheater it would be raised but the photos I could find looked pretty flat... thanks!
Written 26 June 2019
There is a gentle slope to the bandstand. It looked like an excellent venue for an outdoor concert. Parking for big events might get interesting, but they have done this for many big name performers, so no shortage of experience in dealing with crowds.
Written 26 June 2019
Where's the best spot to buy tickets for a concert??? How far away are is the green noled area.... want to sit and relax...eat...drink...have a dance but also dont want to watch
ants performing???
Written 22 November 2018
Contact either Hope or the company providing the concert. I too have only been there to try/buy wine, never for a concert.
Written 24 November 2018
What is the capacity of the concert venue
Written 25 October 2016
It is actually an open air concert venue, so with the grounds available, and dependent on how they configure the venue, you would expect at least 5000.
Written 26 October 2016
We are planning to get tickets for James Taylor in February. Having never been to the venue before, could you tell me if it is indoor or outdoor and if there is allocated seating? Thankyou.
Written 20 October 2016
It's an outdoor venue, and often there is some allocated seating up the front for certain ticket holders, while the rest of the visitors will set themselves up on the surrounding lawn. It's a very relaxed atmosphere.

hi, planning visit on Dec 5 and see that elton john performs. help me incorporate that into my plans for three adults. want to reserve 3 for great cask hall dinner with platinum tickets. are tickets still available?
need transportation from sydney to arrive at Hope around 2pm and return to sydney dec 6 mid-day.
would like to spend night and return sydney on dec 6; recommend possible accommodations
best, charles.
Written 31 October 2015
Hello Charles,
The best way to get answers on ticket availability for dinner packages is to call our hotline 1800 777 444. If calling from overseas you can reach the office on +612 4993 3555.
In regards to transfers from Sydney, one option to look at is Zepher tours. Search for zephertours in australia for their website. Unfortunately I cannot post a link on TripAdvisor.
Accommodation can best be found through TripAdvisor & booking . com. Keep in mind the Hunter Valley is very busy this time of year and there maybe limited accommodation available close to Hope Estate.
All the Best!

Why is it that 4 pm is the start time advertised for Fleetwood Mac concert start and yet special concert busses delivery people there arrive there between 4 and 6-30 pm. What is the actual start time ???
Written 11 September 2015
Hello, Thank you for your query.
The advertised time of 4pm is the gate opening time.
The gate opening time, as well as when the support and main acts appear on stage is all determined by the Promoter and not controlled by Hope Estate. The times acts are performing are stated on the Ticketmaster website, these times are approximate and subject to change.
We hope this helps.
Kind Regards, The Hope Estate Team
