Took the kids to see the sinkhole at night. Would have liked to see it during the day as well- lighting is restricted at night, so missed how it could have looked. Met the resident possums that everyone in the know were feeding. Possums very...More

The Gardens are beautifully maintained and definitely worth visiting. Had been here 20years ago, and was still just as impressed this visit!

Having heard about this wonderful geographical site we were also intrigued by learning that the sink hole has possums which come out at night - they are nocturnal - and obviously you can see them but also feed them with fresh fruit. Splendid!!

This place was pretty cool, can get crowded at times but then completely empty too! Just avoid the tour busses. If you also have a family take them out to see and feed the possums fruit at night!

The sinkhole was beautiful - It was easy to get to and if you coundn't manage the steps down into it you could still enjoy the views from above.

Extraordinary tranquil spot on the edge of town, who would have thought that what's basically a geological disaster area would become a beautiful place to have bbq parties, see wildlife (possums living in tiny connecting tunnels that run through the walls) or chill on a...More

This is definitely a must see attraction when in Mt Gambier. The views are fantastic and it’s a lovely place to spend a little time exploring. There are a lot of stairs so not suitable for prams. Be mindful when walking down with young children...More

You can go anytime as you just walk through a park to get there. At least I don't remember it being gated or fenced at all!

It is a long diversion from the GOR just for the sink hole. There is much more than it in Mt Gambier. Consider overnighting in Mt Gambier for other attractions too.

No, what i think you are talking about is a display on the outside of the building overlooking what the locals call The Cave Gardens. It shows nightly, but is not really a sound and light show, more of a movie clip.

Oh and the Beachport Jetty and Paintball skirmish. Awesome fun and adrenaline rush. Lastly there is the fairy penguin lookout and soft cliff faces with hidden caves underground. You'll wish you had more than just a few days... More
