The visit was to check on the graves of family past and the graves were found without difficulty and the people were helpful and had good records. The cemetery is well maintained and worth a visit if you have a prupose.

Attended the Haunted Tour of the Old Ballarat Cemetary. The tour guide had lots of knowledge of the site. A shame how some of the people were treated and had to buried looking downhill.

This as you might expect has a great deal of history and a walk around is quite intersting if you like cemeteries. It is large and has the usual range of elaborate and not so elaborate headstones.

My family was in town for a basketball tournament and saw this old historic cemetery. My wife a spent an hour or so walking around on a chilly Saturday afternoon. Very interesting tombstones and most dating back to the 1800's. I wish I would have...More

Ballarat Old General Cemetry reflects some of the major landmarks and key figures of Ballarat's European and Chinese history. There are two memorials relating to the Eureka Stockade, one for the diggers and one for the soldiers.
