As beaches go in Australia I would not rate this very high, but for location close to Melbourne's CBD it is the best. The business area nearby is a little tired and in need of a little attention with some shopfronts vacant.

Had a lovely brekky overlooking st kilda beach. Always a good atmosphere and nice to get some fresh air outdoors.

If you wish to check out a nice beachfront with bar and dining attractions , st kilda is the place to be. It's nice for bonding and get together and partying with friends. A must see when You're in Melbourne

This was a great day. I strolled on the beach, by Luna park, down the pier, etc. A nice place to hang out. A little out of the way, but still a lot of people.

Not so busy at this time of year. Beautiful to look at. The sea is always calming. A stroll down Ackland Street. Check out the cake shops. Trams in Melbourne get you every where.

A chilled and beautiful beach with excellent views though it does attract the crowds. A shortish tram ride from the city makes this is an easy trip from the city and makes for a great day trip with lots of good drinking and dining options.

A bit far from the city centre, it is a good place to relax while in Melbourne. Lots of bars and restaurants, on the weekend it gets loud.

It is not super fantastic, however, on one side, you get the sand and sea, on the other side, you get to see CBD, you can get good pictures. The beach is of course rather quiet in winter. But that didn't stop my children from...More

The view and general area is very nice, the market very craft driven and small, I did by some chilli sauce! wouldn't go there for the market itself again.

We got the train from Brighton Beach back to St Kilda. As we'd come from Highett, we got a bus from the Southland Shopping Mall to St Kilda and once there (and after a nice lunch) we then travelled from St Kilda to Brighton... More

I do not believe you're allowed to drink on the beaches, but I don't think anyone minds too much. However, if you choose to drink on the beach (like we did), don't bring glass of any kind leave any litter on the beach, or... More
