If you want to see conservation in action, and native bush, get along to Bushy Park and be sure to leave a koha for forest and bird / the amazing Bushy Park trust to keep up the great work breeding hihi and saddlebacks in particular.

We have visited here over the years. It is now a Bed and Breakfast, with very nice rooms. The manager took us on a tour of the hour, and told us the history. Very tastefully set up, and work still being done to improve it....More

You need to be fairly fit to walk round all the paths as it is quite hilly eg on the way down to the wetlands. I can appreciate all the work that had gone into setting everything up but it’s not somewhere I will bother...More

The drive to Bushy Park gives a taste of the hinterland, with its narrow winding undulating well maintained roads. A superb bush walk adjacent the homestead, and, inside the homestead, a glimpse of grandeur from days long gone. Beautiful timber lined rooms.

Fantastic predator free well laid out and signed tracks. Saddle backs galore, stitch birds, a shining cuckoo, tug, fan tails, a north island robin that danced. A northern rata “ tree of national sognificance” and stunning . Really enjoyed our wander around. Paths very buggy...More

We were taken here by friends from the area. The house was closed on a Monday, so we just walked around the park. There are signed walks through the woods. We saw lots of birds, including some of the native ones. The main feature of...More
