Parked at the peach cove track and walked Mt Lion to smugglers bay. I cut across some farmland to get to Urquats bay car park, took a bit over 3 hours. There's bathrooms and drinking water there. I walked back to the car by beach road as I didn't fancy going up all those steps! This took about an hour.

I can't rate Claires hospitality highly enough. Her cooking, helpfulness and enthusiasm were fantastic. We were a group of girl friends leaving family behind for a weekend escape and we certainly got a break from the routines of cooking and running around after kids as Claire did the running around after us! The walks were beautiful despite the wet weather,... More

We walked to Peach Cove over Mt. Lion. A lovely walk but very demanding as you ascend an amazing path built with steps but it is hard going on the legs. The guide times are about right

Walked with group of 5 friends from Urkharts Bay to Ocean Beach. Track easy to follow. Fab views. Need plenty of water as quite few hills. Allow up to 4 hrs for walk . We,re 60ys plus and we did it no problem

I was a little nervous about the walks as I hadn't done any training but although they were very challenging it was very satisfying. The views from the top on days 2 and 3 were spectacular ! another huge plus is Claire's cooking, it really is a class above and the whole accommodation is excellent. Highly recommend.

A reasonably gentle walk along the coast line, giving plenty of stunning Ocean views. The local flora and fauna adds to the magic feel of the place ... one might even see the occasional Ocra from above. In summer one could start with a swim at Smugglers Bay before heading off to the Word War II bunker at Home Point... More

This walk is not for 'lets just slip-off the couch and go for a walk' unfit people. There are steps all the way up and over to Ocean Beach, from, McLeod Bay. However, for the fit walkers, trampers, this is still a great walk...and worth the effort. I live in Whangarei and do this coastal walk quite regularly. Love it... More

Our group of ten have just spent a wonderful 3 days experiencing the beautiful Whangarei Heads. Claire looked after us so well transporting us from A to B and provided us with the most beautiful meals. Accomodation couldn't be faulted and our walks although challenging especially Day 2 where worth every minute. Will definitely recommend Bream Head Coastal Walks to... More

This was a wonderful area of New Zealand to explore and with the amazing accommodation and exceptional meals. We wanted to kidnap Claire and take her home to cook for us there. You would not get better food anywhere else. The Lodge has been purpose built with everything you need for the most comfortable stay. It is so clean and... More

Walks with spectacular scenery - some level of fitness required but definitely worth the effort. Exquisite cuisine cooked onsite and beautifully presented. The owner is extremely helpful, nothing is too much effort, and she is full of local knowledge and little tips. We went kiwi spotting/listening at night and that was a highlight!! Accommodation is immaculate. All in all, a... More
