We were in Whangarei for quite some time, due to our boat's servicing requirements, and was really surprised to find this wonderful 2+ km trek through gorgeous forest. Not arduous at all, but a lovely way to escape mentally. The falls were lovely too. Very...More

This park is great. Not too far out of town. Lovely pathways and boardwalks through re-generating Kauri and other N.Z. bush. (Shame we wont be around in a couple of hundred years to see it!!). Lovely vegetation and meandering stream. Thoroughly recommended.

A great walk, take the path and walk up high amongst the Kauri trees and take the track further along and visit the Whangarei falls and return via the track to the carpark

Combine this walk with the fall 's and you have several hours of relaxation. The bush is soon therapeutic and relaxing. Reasonably easy walking track , sit with your feet in the cool water coming from the falls.

Took my 4 year old daughter and 70 year grandma here. Had a lovely hour or so walking through the bush looking at the Kauri trees, punga etc. Easy relaxed walking so close to the city.

Great way to start the day. I arrived at the park around 8am while it was still cool and went up to the minor waterfall, checked out the canopy bridge, and then walked north to Whangarei Falls along the Hatea River trail. I highly recommend...More

There are lots of lovely examples of kauri in native forests in this region, but this one stands out because of the raised walkway and the stunning, streams that meander through the park. It will only take you about 15 minutes to walk around but...More
