It's quite a long way from the town (20minutes drive) but definitely worth going. There is a small car park - we were lucky because it was a dull day and not so many people were visiting but I could imaging that it could be problematic to park especially if you drive a large camper van. The walk takes you... More

Easy walk,I walk with crutches and managed. The colour of the water and vegetation never cease to surprise me.

This was a lovely spot and a pleasant walk. It was very busy with tourists though when we were there. Take mozzie repellent! Disappointed at the rubbish left behind by some.

The breath-taking view of this gorge is only a short walk from the parking area. The view is exquisite, the area is clean and well-looked after, suitable for all ages. Make sure you take a camera along!

This would have to be one of the best free must see destinations. The scenery is something else, the river so blue it was unbelievable, and a great swing bridge high above the water thrown in for good measure. Half an hour drive from Hokitika, well sign posted, with only the last half km not sealed. Toilets on hand and... More

Good trip out in the rain, still got great shots of the river. Many years since we have been there a lot more organised and signs everywhere. Still worth the trip even on the rain.

We come at raining day and the water is not blue at all, is grey. It carries the rock flour, make the water become rock slurry and causing it grey. So raining day got nothing to see and you get wet too.

Do not miss this! We were casually recommended a visit but on a fine February morning, we were so glad we came. Stunning views but come with insect repellent spray - lots of hungry sand flies!

It not so far from the Hokitika, riding 25 minutes one way is really worth of doing. Nice and easy walk to see beautiful colors. Everybody enjoyed this time.

The water colours of the gorge are quite spectacular and well worth seeing. Parking is quite limited though and I'd suggest taking an insect repellent spray with you.
