The Guys from "wings over whales" were very friendly from the first minute we arrived. In a short safety instruction our pilot Edward also told us everything you need to know about whales in Kaikura. It was very interesting and well explained. We also appreciate that he told us some names of the whales in german, since this can be... More

Although it is quite short (30 min) we were really happy ! The pilot (Edward) was funny and friendly and we saw plenty of dolphins and 3 whales showing up. Furthermore you will get an ice cream for free if you see a whale ;)

Unforgettable experience! We saw a few sperm whales, hundreds of dolphins and ... orcas!! Fantastic souvenir! As it was my first time in a small aircraft I was anxious, but it turned out to be incredibly enjoyable and peaceful with astonishing scenic views of Kaikoura's bay and the Alps altogether. The staff is very friendly, helpful and specially takes time... More

We loved our flight with Wings over Whales. There was our group of 4 and one other lady on our flight with our pilot, Jesse. We were so lucky to see orcas as well as 2 sperm whales up close and 2 others at distance. The orcas had not been seen for a month, so we felt really lucky. We... More

We were absolutely stunned by our tour with Edward from Wings Over Whales. From the insightful pre-flight presentation about the life of whales in the Kaikoura canyon to the absolutely amazing flight where we saw 4 whales, we left the airport wanting to spend the remaining of our trip in the plane with Edward. Absolutely spot on! I could not... More

We initially wanted to do a whale watchin boat tour, but they were all booked out with long waiting lists. So the only option to maybe see a whale seemed to be a helicopter tour or a flight with Wings Over Whales. Luckely we decided to do the flight and we couldn't have been any happier with the experience. Very... More

With the problems of the recent earthquakes in the area, we had wanted to book the boat that went out to the whales. However, due to the harbour having been severely damaged, there are currently only three trips a day instead of sixteen and, therefore, we were unable to book anything for a month. We had noticed that flights were... More

I admit to a cetacean addiction. I go whale watching whenever possible. I have always done it by boat because that is what is usually possible. I have seen whales near Auckland, Gold Coast Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, and California. This was a different and great experience. Often you see only a flipper, tail, or fin. You know the whale is... Thank-you to Wings Over Whales for a fantastic trip today......we were so disappointed when our much-anticipated boat trip had to be cancelled due to rough seas in the morning, but thrilled that we were offered a transfer to a 30mins flight with your company at no extra cost. The pre-flight info was very informative + Edward was a calming, competent... More
