Maybe I was after something different, but the entire experience was 'meh'. The lighthouse was unspectacular, the ferry ride was similarly uninspiring and the rocky ground just made walking hard work. Once there, there are no facilities (toilets) and no shelter, but equally really nothing to see either. You can see it all from the port without leaving harbour.

We took this Ferry Trip for a special occasion - our grandson's fifth birthday Pirate Party and were very impressed with the ferry service. The couple running the service were very safety conscious and patient with a group of excited kids. We were dropped off on Haulashore Is.after a short but enjoyable ferry ride and then picked up again once... More

The "ferry" is actually a small motorboat run by a private operator, but DON'T let that put you off! You get a fantastic 8-minute ride out to the lighthouse and to Haulashore Island — two attractions that anybody visiting Nelson would be a fool to miss out on. The operator is a middle-aged man who knows everything you'll want to... More

I have lived in Nelson for 20 years and have only just taken the ferry to the lighthouse. Wish I had done it years ago! Lovely little outing and the ferryman was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this to anyone with a bit of time to spare in Nelson.

Bruce brought me on his little ferryship to the boulder bank and showed me the lighthouse inside. He was very flexible and explained me a lot of insider knowledge. The bulder bank is a strange natural rock bank. Going up to the lighthouse or having a picknick on the boulder bank is very nice. It is worth going with Bruce.... More

Bruce runs a tight ship with on-time sailing and pick-up. The lighthouse is delightful. We were dropped off at the lighthouse and enjoyed a walk to the baches from where we were picked up and taken back to the wharf. Take a bag to pick up rubbish along the Boulder Bank, a pic-nic, togs if you feel like swimming off... More

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon paddling to the old lighthouse and to the islands. Good quality sit on top kayaks that were very easy to paddle. Climbing the lighthouse was an interesting diversion. I would highly recommend renting kayaks from here.

Enjoyed seeing Nelson from a different view. The owner is helpful, knowledgable and friendly. Interesting to see the boulder bank up close and you can visit the lighthouse for great views. Bird life plentiful and a couple of seals.
