Walked to Tapeka from town (Russell). Great workout going up the hill ... took the bush track to keep off the road as it's a bit busy and windy. Were greated with amazing views of the Bay of Islands

Steep so one reason to watch but also a PA so used to watch and protect others from harm. A pa is a fortified area usually in a place with good visibility. The views are amazing but the drops to the rocks and sea are...More

You don‘t expect what‘s comimg up starting the track on private property in the middle of the Tapeka urbanization. It climbs up to the top off the cliff first on a grassy track with spectacular views to both beaches - the Oneroa and Konorareka -...More

Nice place to take the family, feels very safe and sheltered. Plenty of parking and picnic tables if you want them.

The walk up could be a lot easier if the track was maintained better, but if your mildly fit & take it slow, the 360' view is worth it. TIP: do not attempt if wet.....could be very dangerous.

The climb to the Pa site (Maori fortified headland) on the summit of Tapeka Point is steep in places, but is easily identified and not too difficult for all but the least fit. The sign recommends 60 minutes return; take that long to enjoy the...More

Those that want to walk to the top of Flagstaff Hill can take this track. You can go direct via the end of the road, but if you would enjoy a more extensive walk take the track to the left about half way up the...More

The steep track isn't for everyone, but the two beaches at Tapeka Point are well-worth a visit. Going down the hill, the open ocean shingle beach on the right is perfect for beach combing and exploring rock pools --- and the harbour beach on the...More

The Point at Tapeka Point is a quiet spot here in the neighborhood of Russell town. The views are great and the water is nice, clear and cool. There's even toilet facilities here which makes it an easier go-to place however you probably need transportation...More
