Lovely picturesque place for a picnic lunch after Nourlangie. Didn’t take the walk but some tourists mentioned to us a croc was quite close to the path.

We parked at the Nawurlandja parking area which also gives you easy access to the glorious lookout. Sunscreen, water and insect spray recommended. The billabong is a tranquil spot, and an easy circular walk on grass takes you round the water. Lots of bird life, a few wallabies,some gorgeous views. Keep your eyes peeled - my wife almost stepped on a snake! This walk was one of our Kakadu highlights. …

We set out to do a bit more than what we ended up doing, but the routes were closed because of seasonal rains. We did walk the elevated boardwalk and went to the boat launch to view water fowl and we saw several crocodiles from our viewing spots. Lots of other bird life to be seen as well!…

As one of the free spots to see birdlife in Kakadu, you can't go wrong. There are several parking areas along the edge of the billabong with a walking track if you're up to it. Walking the billabong would certainly be the best way to see the wildlife but you still can see plenty from the parking areas. This is where we saw our first jabiru. It's quite scenic in itself with the mountains behind the billabong. Easily accessible so definitely check it out.…
