Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kakadu is a World Heritage Site in part for its cultural heritage & there are several stunning rock art sites to explore. Ubirr is on a sealed road 40km from the township of Jabiru. An easy to moderate loop walk takes you to 6 or 7 art sites. Decent interpretation and beautiful wooden handrails means you keep beyond touching distance of the art but are still close enough for a really good view of the animals, spirits and humans painted here. A steepish but short clamber gets you to a stunning lookout over the amazing landscape. Great any time but sunset here would be glorious.

Fantastic place to visit. We went in September towards the end of the dry season, beginning of the build up. It was all very accessible. Great walks with some spectacular views. The rock art is amazing and the whole place feels very special.

Haven’t been here in years but glad to be back after Kakadu has reopened. One of the best views in the Territory. Only a short walk up to the lookout, make sure you take the time to check out the indigenous art rock paintings along the path. Time it for a sunset view at the top. Truly special.

Very easy walk from the carpark to most of the artworks. We arrived at around 3:30pm on a 38C day and it was hot! Take lots of water. The climb up the rocks to see the final artworks and view of the plains was a bit of work for me (dodgy knee) but my husband and teens were fine. The view from the top is spectacular - greenery for miles. Well worth the visit.

This is a site that should not be missed and is one of the reasons why Kakadu National Park was awarded World Heritage Status. The rock art is magnificent depicting human life for the past 40,000 years. However, according to the experts most of the paintings were painted 1,500 years ago in what is known as the freshwater period and depict fish, mussels and wallabies among other animals. You can also climb to the top of the rock to survey the surrounding countryside.

This is extremely scenic site and can be mesmerizing for photo lovers. Drive from the nearest city, Darwin, is pretty long - about four hours, but pretty worthy. Land you can see from top of Ubirr rock looks untouched for thousands of years; you can get that natural feeling. Climb is pretty easy, just follow the signs and wear non-slippery shoes. Along the track you can see many rockarts depicting beliefs of the Indigenous people who have lived here for thousands of years.

It was 35 degree hot sunny day and it is January, the wet season. We have visited information centre to find out where to go and was offered to go to Ubirr with kids. In the middle of the road from Jabiru, sign says it is closed so we contacted to info entre to make sure the site is ok to visit. Few spots near the river were flooded so we worried a bit but was possible to pass so continued the journey. Because the sign says the road was closed, when we arrived there was nobody but us so we could take enough time to see the cultural site and take lots of pics. It is breath taking scenery place when you reach the top. Not too difficult to climb up. My young 5yr old kid managed and enjoyed to the top despite of the scorching hot weather. It is not too much of walking from the entrance but draws attention immediately you walk into the place. I sincerely thank to people who worked in the past for us to be able to visit the place. It had sealed road all the way and signage everywhere. We had great learning about the aboriginal culture felt we are in Northern Territory.

Took a guided trip with my brother and Chizo and his daughter Jody from Never Never Tours. Would recommend. A very informative and enjoyable time, apart from a noisy group of people at the top as the sun set.
The views are 360 degrees and there should be a sign asking people to whisper or not talk so that you can enjoy this spiritual place.
It’s a short walk from the car park along a track to the start of the rocks. Whilst not too high a climb with some assistance from carved wooden rails, I would not recommend to anyone unsteady or very young children, as scaling the rocks is rather arduous. A must see, but be respectful and careful.

Plenty of rock art to be viewed here and a lot of information explaining it and other cultural matters. A nice circuit walking track takes you to the art sites and to the top of rock outcrops from which there are stunning views across the wetlands.

A must visit Kakadu location.

I’ve never experienced so much art in One location, absolutely mesmerising. Easy pathways, clear, well signed plus the view from the lookout is incredible. Must do.
