Overview
More
A deep gorge carved through ancient sandstone by the Katherine River draws thousands of visitors to the Jawoyn-owned Nitmiluk National Park each year. Distinctive dissected sandstone country features above the gorge, lush rainforest gullies inhabit giant cracks in the gorge walls, and broad valleys meander through both the high and the low country. Enjoy a boat tour, helicopter flight, various walks, camping and canoeing. Leliyn (Edith Falls) is also a great attraction within the Park.

We booked a morning canoeing session in the gorge and loved it. The gorge is split into eight or nine major sections, broken up by rocky areas where you carry the canoe. A boat from the visitors centre takes you up to the 2nd gorge...More

Would have been more interesting if tour guide had been an indigenous person. The guide was very informative and pleasant.

We did the two gorge boat trip. The tour guide was very knowledgable and could answer any questions asked. The tour takes you through the most beautiful and majestic country side. The cost of $80 for seniors was very well spent for an amazing adventure....More

It's lovely to travel up this gorge in one of the guided tour boats, hearing the narration about how the gorge was formed and what happens in the wet season, when the whole place floods.

From the 4.30 greeting at the jetty by a very welcoming young backpacker, to the very erudite and amusing commentary by the pilot/captain, through fabulous scenery, indigenous art viewing on a short walk to the cordon bleu meal, and looking at a spectacular sunset as...More

I was unfortunately somewhat underwhelmed at this experience. After such a massive drive from Darwin, and all the tourist hype, my expectations were high. How very disappointing. I have been in similar places not far from my home in Sydney, minus the sparse crocs. Honestly,...More

The lookout walk is well made but steep. 40 minutes or less return trip will reward you with a spectacular view of the gorge and river. If its hot the earlier the better. Therefore I would recommend you start early and... More
