We visited Arrowtown village with a coach tour on the way to Queenstown. We were given about 45 minutes for a comfort stop and browsing, and we happily could have taken a couple of hours because there were so many shops with such a variety of interesting souvenirs. We remember one shop that had the lowest prices for standard NZ... More

This is a 1860s gold town that has been well preserved and is now a bustling tourist destination. The Main Street comprises rows of very quaint buildings inhabited by eateries, up market boutique style shops and some standard shops. There is ample free parking no more than five minutes away and this is a delightful place to wile away a... More

A nice town for a wander through and a coffee stop. Very traditional in appearance, and clearly geared towards the tourists. Great background views.

If you're going to Queenstown you definitley need to go to Arrowtown then ! its 20 to 30 minutes away from Queenstown centre. The town centre is beautiful, buildings that belong to early 1800s from the gold rush era. You can see many heritage houses amd shops. Restaurants are nice and serve good foods/ drinks. They have nice boutiques that... More

Love the old gold mining town character. Reminds me of home in California. We have a weekend house in Nevada City, California, another 1860ish gold mining town. Nevada City has preserved their old buildings as well. The National Hotel is the longest continually operating hotel west of the Mississippi River. Arrowtown has all the same ambience but much better restaurants.

If you are in QueensTown., it would be worth your while to take a quick drive of less than half an hour and travel back in time to this quaint old town.
