The main street is beautifully preserved in the style of early 20th century. There are lots of tourist shops selling quality clothes, art, souvenirs, etc. There are also plenty of places to eat. Consequently, it is very busy and parking is somewhat challenging. There are car parks close by but they seem to fill very quickly because of the sheer... More

We just stopped by here on our way from Wanaka to Queenstown, most of the establishments were closed as it was xmas day but it was good to walk around and experience the laidback vibe

Mining town village houses restored. Very picturesque but rather unreal. Most houses now tourist shops or restaurants. Parking very easy and nearby Chinese settlement interesting. Very busy with tourists.

We were so glad we decided to go here. The town is just gorgeous. A must is the bakery for some wonderful food, the pub for a cold drink, great place for souvenirs and very tasty fudge. We thought it may have been expensive but were pleasantly surprised. Next time down this way we are going to stay here as... More

Very nice village with lots of shops to look in. There is a lot of restaurants and eateries, many are quite good value. There was a lady selling fruit while I was there, this was the best stoned fruit I ate since being here in NZ. Lovely town to slow down and look around.

Some lovely shops and cafes and pubs where one can enjoy a coffee or a meal. From here you walk two minutes to where... More

Very well preserved old gold mining town. The shops are very expensive, beware! On a sunny day it is lovely. Lots of places to have morning coffee or an ice cream
