Great walk for experienced & fit walkers - steep in many places and gravelly surface - slippery & care on descent required. Fantastic views of surrounding mountain range and Lake Hayes. Took around 2.5 hours but a worthwhile circuit. Not suitable for young children.

This hike was great. It had plenty of ups and downs throughout the track to keep you mind always entertained. There were many small offshoot trails that you could take as well. Also, if you want a daredevil experience, (don't) walk on the pipes over...More

The Sawpit Gully walk is unique as it encompasses a diverse range of terrain, flora and fauna for a relatively short track. Regardless of whether you attack it clockwise or anticlockwise it contains some challenging climbs. Clockwise and 90% of your hard work is done...More

Beautiful views but signage bad. Got so lost as we ended up taking an animal track. Took another 3 hours to find our way back. Maybe doing it anticlockwise would be a better option.

We had decided to visit Arrowtown, not realising that there were so many walks in the vicinity. Hadn’t done our homework! Anyway, we decided on the Sawpit Gully Track on the basis that it was the right kind of length - 2-3 hours. It was...More

I like to do this loop starting on the same track as Big Hill and Bush Creek, they all share the same track at the start. After a seriously big climb out of Arrowtown - maybe 20-30 minutes, you are affored great views of the...More

Was looking for a heart pounding uphill walk and this trail provided it. I found the trail poorly marked with lots of trails going off so managed to end up after 90 minutes having run out of Trail and looking at having to cross the...More

You need a reasonable level of fitness. When you are on the trail you feel like you are in the middle of no where. Its beautiful and serene. Worth getting away from the very touristy part of central Arrowtown and getting up in the hills.
