Our group of 9 adults, aged 54-62, broke the Rail Trail up into 3 sections as most of the group were only social or very occasional riders. All of us made the distance quite comfortably, as we organised our rides to avoid the big hill up to Beechworth. We used Geoff at Bus & Bike on all 3 days -... More

We were married in Bright recently and decided to ride the Rail Trail for our honeymoon. We booked accommodation in advance in each town and had a marvelous time riding from B & B to winery to cafe and stopping wherever it pleased us. The trail itself is in very good condition and there wasn't too many other bicycles.

Travelled several of the routes with a group of over 50's. All coped quite well even on the more difficult rides.

We did this section only but would highly recommend more…. it is amazing. Vast well made tracks for bikes and walkers, going for miles. We saw kangaroos and an echidna. Flat so good for families.

Travelled the Corowa to Rutherglen section (9 kms one way) and back - it is very flat with mostly bitumen all the way. Can get a little monotonous unless you divert and check out some of the wineries along the way. Be careful though as it can add a lot of kilometres to the trip. Although, after visiting the first... It's a lovely easy ride down from Beechworth to Everton and then pretty flat to Myrtleford. About 42km. We took a small amount of things in panniers for a night at a motel in Myrtleford. Day 2 we rode from Myrtleford to Bright, once again pretty flat and easy. 30km. My husband then caught the Vline bus back to Beechworth... More

I love riding the historic rail trails. I've ridden the Warburton trail and part of the the Great Victorian Rail trail at Yea. What I especially look forward to is visiting old station sites. There are very good reviews of this trail and they are well deserved. The path is completely sealed, well sign posted with a liberal number of... More

Rode with the kids from Wangaratta to Bright, stopping in Everton and Myrtleford. Terrific, well maintained trail. Lovely scenery. Very exposed so would be very hot in summer. In late Sept there were lots of swooping magpies, but more an irritation than a problem.

Hi EmmsterToo, Thanks for taking the time to review the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. Glad to hear you enjoyed your experience despite the seasonal magpies. In summer we recommend starting out earlier in the day to beat the heat. There are also rivers and other swimming holes that are nearby sections of the rail trail for a nice pedal... More

We rode most of the trail but the highlight was from myrtleford to bright on a beautiful spring day. Great views, easy riding and a great place for lunch in Bright. Stop at the rail trail cafe for coffe on route
