Big let down. I was very disappointed to be sitting outside on damp chairs eating from a plastic tray and drinking from a paper cup. A rural setting should be serving food on plates and drinks in mugs. The cafe full of cyclists dressed for the outdoors so they should sit outside and allow the seats for other customers.
Service really slow. Three counter staff but still waiting 20 mins for a coffee after placing order. Girl on till too slow.
Prices very expensive for a paper cup.
There are other places better value for money. Top prices should reflect top service and a plate.
Look for somewhere else.

Hi Jackie,
thank you for taking the time to give us feedback and review your experience her at Wymondham Windmill. I would just like to say we do understand that takeaway trays and cups are disappointing. So we are currently in the process of building a stunning new outside seating patio from which we will be going back to normal plates, cutlery, cups etc. we are really exciting to get this up and running in the next few months.
with regards to your comments about cyclist sitting outside, I believe this is completely wrong. we will always treat every customer that comes through the door equally, our inside tables are welcome to everyone, whether it be cyclists, walkers with muddy boots and anyone coming to visit. having said that, you can always phone ahead and reserve a table to guarantee a table inside. we do get busy, and this is always recommended as inside seating is limited.

We walked up to the Windmill from the Berkeley Arms after a meal, so did not try the food here, but we visited the lovely shops and went into the Windmill itself which is a very interesting old building.
The windmill is only open on weekends, so as a quick stopover on a nice day, I would say it is worth the visit.

Stopped off on a bikepacking trip and had a coffee - lovely location and nice cuppa. Very friendly staff. And very handy to have a bike shop on site as my groupset went into crash mode as I left!

Stopped at the windmill for the new sunday roast experience in the new barn/restaurant.
Had two courses, the sirloin beef for main and the white chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The meal was in a different league to your regular sunday roast/carvery and a lovely setting. Staff excellent also.

There was a dog in the bar when we arrived, but I don’t know if they are allowed in the hotel bedrooms.
