About
Wallis Lake an iconic landmark comes alive in the summer months with boaters, fishers, paddlers and swimmers joining the dolphins, rays and turtles that call this lake home. The shores of Breckenridge Channel in Forster are dotted with boatsheds. Grab some friends and paddle the lake on a stand-up paddle board, kayak or hire a boat to explore Wallis Lakes many islands. You can even hire luxury houseboats where you can drop anchor after a day of exploring to sleep on the water. The lake system provides some of the tastiest fish and seafood in the country. Wallis Lake is the biggest producer of Sydney Rock Oysters in the state with generational oyster farmers pointing to the lakes unique environment creating the perfect conditions to grow juicy and plump SR Oysters. Surrounded by Wallingat National Park on the west and Booti Booti National Park on the east, the pristine waters are fed by the Wallamba River, Coolongolook River and Pipers Creek. The lake is approximately 25 kilometres

We had a week in Forster and I thought it would be good to get some fishing in so I headed to the local boat hire and asked about hire rates for two or three days over our stay. Well it's low season and not one of their boats are out so you would expect a good price right, not so it's one crazy price for four hours hire the same as peak holiday time so fishing in Forster became land based. Also if you decide to buy your own boat as it would be cheaper and feel like some fresh oysters on the way home give the local supplier a miss in Little St he sells them for $14.50 doz for the small ones which are $1.50 more than the same Wallis Lake oysters through a retail outlet 300 km's away work that out !!!! These local businesses are so far out of touch, people are happy to pay a fair price but nobody likes being ripped off.

Good ramp to launch your boat lots of room and easy access to floating docks or beach area in low tide. Lots of parking available. Good wash down area. It gets extremely chaotic and busy during the tourist season! lots of tourists who do not know what they are doing so if you visit during these times be very patient and careful of the novices.

Needed a bit of recreation on the water on a holiday to Forster. 6 adults and 5 kids were no problem for Forster Marina.

Picked up a self drive party boat. It is easy to drive and no boat license required. It has it all they supply life jackets, BBQ, onboard toilet, map and away you go.

Staff very helpful.

We had a great day and will happily be back again.

We hired a party pontoon for the day and had the best day on the lake. We were a party of 11, 4 children under 10, the rest adults. There was plenty of room on board, great instruction on how to operate the boat before leaving the dock, staff helped fit life jackets for the kids and helped with loading our gear,a handy map of the waterways including toilets on islands and Google maps as an added tool. Plenty of time for fishing, swimming and sight seeing around the lake. We will be starting a new Christmas family tradition!

Thay may be very good at hiring out boats, but the restaurant part, leaves much to desire.
Walked in for some lunch today. The welcome was…….there was no welcome. Just someone sorting out some cutlery. Oh well …. Found a menu board, of such, which was not easy to read. Found a table, looked about and realised we had to get back up and go read off the menu board and order at the counter and pay for the meal. $53 odd later, received a so-called glass of Chardonnay…quarter full. Buy hey, the soft drink that was presented with a glass of ice. That was good. Tuna steaks with salad and sweet potato chips, really? Two tuna steaks that were dry, certainly not cooked to order, sauce? Well, it was not the sesame and ginger as per the menu board and not the sweet potato chips, but medium cooked, not hot, potato chips!!! As for the other meal, I rather would not embarrass the Marina furthermore, except the potato chips were NOT HOT and not all that well cooked.
What a poor meal, people. You need to raise the bar somewhat. I'm local and not impressed.

Fantastic customer service, friendly, professional and informative. We hired a tinny for a couple of hours and Paul was very friendly. Easy process to hire the boat, boat in great condition and even gave us some bread for our little one to throw into the water. Most definitely would go there again when we're there. Thank you to Paul and his team for a wonderful experience.

What a shocker! We hired a BBQ pontoon boat. 10 people including kids. 4burner bbq, didn't work. Only 2 burners. Lunch took forever to cook. No ice box, had to use the garbage bin with a bin liner as we did not have anywhere to keep our cold food, price was not what was advertised. Was dearer than what is advertised. Boat is in need if repair. Sharp metal bolted to the floor sticking up as a trip hazzard. Toilet didn't flush properly and no way to wash hands. NEVER would we go back. Poor service, rude staff and no care when told of issues. Couldn't find the owner to talk to. Given the run around when asked where he was. Give this place a miss. Go to another hire place.

Forster Marina was purchased in 2021 and under new management has undergone extensive refurbishment, the party boats have been rebuilt, upgraded furniture and brand new motors. BBQ removed in response to a safety issue after the accident that hurt a child - not on our waterways - it has been recommended to remove BBQ that can tip over.

Both recently and a couple of years ago hired party boats from here for family birthdays. Never again ! The customer service is absolutely disgraceful. The guy with dyed black hair or wig ( haven’t quite worked out which ) is one of the rudest people I’ve ever had to do business with. Was rude to my sister in law when she asked for a life jacket for her 7 month old. Father in law asked if he could use his bin in which he replied it will cost you $15. His whole demeanour and attitude was I’m doing you a favour. Remember buddy you need locals and tourists to support your business !!

Nice quiet place. Stayed only for a night in a airbnb acommodation which had a canal as their backyard. Spotted a good relax spot for RV and some nice place to eat seafood. Didnt get to see much on such a short stay.

Forster Marina has just had a major overhaul. In the marina itself there are more berths for the bigger boats.
The boat ramp which was improved about 18 months ago has since had a fabulous floating wharf built so you no longer need to get wet whilst launching and retrieving your vessel.
It is a lovely area. There are always people enjoying themselves fishing off the wharves or break wall or just a taking a walk.
It is just a stones throw from the caravan park and s short walk to the shops and restaurants.
We had been out in the beautiful lake and while we were washing the boat a few dolphins cruised past.
What a place to live!
